Former VA Secretary and P&G CEO Bob McDonald Headlines our Fall Gathering
The P&G Alumni Washington, DC Chapter is delighted to welcome the eighth US Secretary of Veterans Affairs and retired chairman, president, and CEO of Procter & Gamble, Bob McDonald as our Fall program speaker on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. Bob shared his perspectives on the state of leadership in the US and globally and took questions from the group.
Bob served as VA Secretary from July 2014 to January 2017, where he was credited with bringing business acumen and leadership skills to a broken Veterans Administration. Bob began his business career at P&G in 1980. Over more than three decades, he rose through the ranks as a brand manager, head of P&G Canada’s Laundry business, GM in the Philippines, head of Japan Operations, and President of Global Fabric and Home Care based in Brussels. In 2004, he was appointed Vice Chairman, Global Operations, Chief Operating Officer in 2007, and President and CEO in July 2009. He retired in 2013.
He is a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point and an Army Veteran serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. Bob and his wife, Diane, founded the McDonald Conference for Leaders of Character at West Point. He holds an MBA from the University of Utah.
Bob is the Chairman of the board of RallyPoint Networks, an online community of active duty military members and veterans, and serves on numerous boards, including Audia International, Quotient Technology, and the Partnership for Public Service.
Honeywell Customer Experience Center Tour
On June 10, 2019, in Washington DC, seventeen members of Washington DC and Baltimore chapters had an opportunity to reconnect, and enjoy a private tour of Honeywell Customer Experience Center, located at 101 Constitution Ave NW, right next to the U.S. Capitol.
Honeywell Customer Experience Center is a state-of-the-art interactive showcase center focused on the Power of Connected. The Center features some of the most interesting digital aspects of Honeywell businesses, including:
- Connected Technologies for the Smart City
- Connected Buildings
- Connected Workers
- Connected Aircraft
Attendees had an opportunity to learn how Honeywell is building a smarter, safer, and more sustainable world. Featured products included Spectra Fiber, used in personal protection, and Solstice (R) products for safe and secure buildings. The event concluded with networking.
